Inspired By All The Little Things #44 with Becca Whitham

Hello and welcome to Inspired By All The Little Things! This is a weekly inspiration challenge blog and each week we feature a wonderful designer who inspires us as an artist!

It's Karen with you this week, and I have invited Becca Whitham from Expressions as my guest designer.  Becca has a wonderful sense of design, and real skill with watercolours, putting together stunning cards week after week.  She is one busy lady, so I'm thrilled that amidst a big move, she was able to join us this week!

I asked Becca to share a bit about herself...

1. What is the name of your blog? When and why did you start it?
My blog is called "Expressions" but the address is "becca-expressions.blogspot.com."  I started it in 2010 as a way of being accountable on my weight loss (hmmm) and writing for publication goals.  At least I met the second one.  I also needed an outlet because my husband was deployed for a year, we'd just become empty nesters, and I'd moved from the Pacific NW to Colorado where I knew very few people except new Army friends.

2. What is your style of card making?
Generally, I'm Clean and Simple (CAS), but sometimes I can't help getting frilly or piling on layers.

3. Who inspires you as a designer?
Oh...I'm such a blog-hopping, Pinterest browsing, card challenge junkie, I should start my own support group!  However, there are a few artists who have really helped me up my game. Sandy Allnock is the Copic Marker Queen, Debby Hughes at limedoodle design makes water colored pieces of art, and Maile Belles rocks the clean and simple world.  I've also benefited greatly from Online Card Classes.

4. What sort of things inspire you as a card maker? Photos? Sketches? Other designers?
All of them!  I began my card-making journey by buying everything I needed to copy a specific card exactly. That morphed into being inspired by cards I liked and using the supplies I had on hand to make my own version. A few years ago, I really got into color challenges where there wasn't a theme or inspiration photo.  I felt too limited by anything other than color.  Only recently have I started to enjoy the challenges that include a photo or theme.

5. Share something about yourself that we may not know?
Ballet got me over my fear of spiders. Really!  I forget what part they played in the overall dance recital program, but my age group ended up being spiders.  We had these black costumes with foam "legs" that stuck out all over.  I still don't like spiders, and I'll screechy-scream if I come upon a large one unexpectedly, but I no longer irrationally fear them.

Here is Becca's card using this week's inspiration!

The challenge designers have also created a card for this week's inspiration! These ladies just inspire me SO much!!! I hope you will play along with us this week! We would love to have you join us!
