Inspired by All the Little Things #42 with creative guest Nina Forsyth

Hello and welcome to Inspired By All The Little Things! This is a weekly inspiration challenge blog and each week we feature a wonderful designer who inspires us as an artist!

Lesley here! We had a tremendous snowfall and I have been without power! No cell phone either, as it wasn't charged enough to last! Ack! But the power is back on and here is the challenge inspiration for this week! Sorry for the late start!

This week I have invited...

I asked Nina to share a bit about herself...

1.      What is the name of your blog? When and why did you start it?
My blog is “Notes by Nina” and can be found at ninascardart.blogspot.ca. I actually did not start my blog, my sister did and she gave it to me as a Birthday present in 2008. She has always been more in touch with social media and felt I should share my cards.

2.      What is your style of card making?
Truthfully, I have no clue what my style is. I love layers and they are my go-to when I am stuck. I am trying to getting better at CAS cards, so when life gets busy I can still get in some craft time.

3.      Who inspires you as a designer?
I have to choose one person...that is a tough one! I can't really single anyone out. I have found inspiration from so many people; from the seasoned creators, to those just discovering this fabulous addiction. I am often surprised at what catches my attention and motives my creativeness.

4.      What sort of things inspire you as a card maker? Photos? Sketches? Other designers?
I am inspired with sketches and/or inspiration images. I come up with my best ideas when I am asked for a specific card and usually on a tight timeline. I struggle most with colour challenges.

5.      Share something about yourself that we may not know?
I like to listen to audiobooks when crafting, it makes me feel like I am multitasking.

Here is Nina's card using this week's inspiration!

The challenge designers have also created a card for this week's inspiration! These ladies just inspire me SO much!!! I hope you will play along with us this week! We would love to have you join us!

Thank you all so much for joining us this week for the Inspired by Challenge #41.  We loved seeing how you were inspired in all of your creative projects. These are the submissions that have earned a special Inspiring Stand Out this week. Please go ahead and display the badge on your blog.

A special thank you to Carol Mayne for being our Creative Guest this week!

These are the submissions that have earned a special Inspiring Stand Out badge this week. Please go ahead and display the badge on your blog!

Carol's pick is #20 - Susie Moore

I love how she's interpreted key elements of the photo - the colours and its CAS nature - and translated them into an eye-catching, lovely coffee-themed card. I'm especially taken with the background pattern and the hearts. An absolutely fabulous design in every way!

Tracey's pick is #3 - Betty Keefe

I could see right away how Betty was inspired this week by her use of this fabulous gold heart, foiled patterned paper and the dimensional gold sentiment that add that touch of texture. Congatulations Betty!

Congratulations ladies and make sure you grab your badge.

Thank you so much Carol for joining me as my guest this challenge. Join Lesley here today for Challenge #42!

Inspired By All the Little Things featuring Carol Mayne

Hello, Tracey here, and welcome to Inspired By All The Little Things! This is a weekly inspiration challenge blog and each week we feature a wonderful designer who inspires us as an artist! I have chosen an inspiration that seems to be perfect for this time of the year!

This week I have invited...

Carol Mayne

I asked Carol to share a bit about herself...

1. What is the name of your blog? When and why did you start it?

My blog name, just me: c, came about as a little place where I can be 'just me'. The 'c' (lower case) is simply 'because'; I rarely sign/type my full name, so 'c' is who I am, Even my niece and nephew know me as Aunty c.  I started my blog in 2013, as a way to 'commit' to crafting (and to justify my investments *grin*). Little did I know that in so doing I would meet some of the most encouraging, supportive, talented, friendly people in the world!

2. What is your style of card making?

CAS, or as some have described it 'eclectic CAS', which is a significant switch from the way I initially started, where I was patterned-papering all over the place. I've learned to embrace the white space…most of the time.

3. Who inspires you as a designer?

Everyone in this community!  I have a LONG list of people I follow via Feedly, Instagram and Facebook, whose talents awe me daily.

4. What sorts of things inspire you as a card maker? Photos? Sketches? Other designers?

A combination of all three, actually.  In all honesty, if I didn't have these sources of inspiration, I'd be helpless!  I'm far better an 'inspire-ee' than an 'inspire'er'.

5. Share something about yourself that we may not know?

I'm a bike-racing official (no, I do not race at all! Are you kidding me...bike racing is an exhilarating, but incredibly sketchy, sport.) in the disciplines of road bike, mountain-bike and cyclo-cross. Most weekends, from early May to the end of October, you’ll find me at finish lines, clipboard, pen and stop-watch in hand, in my role as a commissaire. The racing community is a special place for me.

Here is Carol's card using this week's inspiration!

The challenge designers have also created a card for this week's inspiration! These ladies just inspire me SO much!!! I hope you will play along with us this week! We would love to have you join us!

Inspired By All The Little Things #40 featuring Donna Rudy

Hello and welcome to Inspired By All The Little Things! This is a weekly inspiration challenge blog and each week we feature a wonderful designer who inspires us as an artist!

It's Karen here with you this week, and I have invited...
Donna Rudy from Krash Scrapper!

I can honestly say that Donna is the most innovative card maker that I know!  Unique details and brilliant designs are her trademark (you know when you say to yourself "I wish I'd thought of that"...).  She's a great lady to hang out and craft with, too!
I asked Donna to share a bit about herself...

1. What is the name of your blog? When and why did you start it?
My blog is called: kardsbykrashscrapper.blogspot.ca . Very early in my card making days I realized I needed to have a blog to not only showcase my projects (my first cards left a lot to be desired) but also to participate in challenges. To be honest, it is kind of fun to go back and look at my first cards... although honestly I would like to redo them all! <smile>  The blog itself is named after my horse. I had to say good bye to him about 3 1/2 years ago but he taught me so many life lessons and inspired me in so many ways I wanted to find a way to honour him.

2. What is your style of card making?
I am not sure what I would call my card making style. I like to create scenes but I have also recently been pushing myself to work with more layers of patterned paper. I also like to throw a CAS card in there once and awhile just for fun. With each card I do I really try to keep the focus on the stamp I am using and try to use embellishments that highlight it.

3. Who inspires you as a designer?
I am quite new in the card making world and still getting my feet wet but one of the first people to inspire me is a very talented stamp artist and card designer - Crissy Armstrong. I not only love her stamps but I also love her card style. I am also inspired by Karen Dedman at Your Next Stamp. My first challenge card ever was a card I created using a stamp she named after my horse. The rest is history as they say. I am also inspired by my horse and all the things he taught me and the day to day antics of my dog

4. What sort of things inspire you as a card maker? Photos? Sketches? Other designers?
I am inspired by alot of things! It can be everything from a piece of patterned paper, to a stamp, to a card layout by another talented card maker - there really is no easy answer to this question <smile> The list goes on but I often find myself looking at a beautiful sunset/sunrise/storm clouds etc and trying to figure out what alcohol markers I would use to recreate the colours I am seeing.......I know - weird right?!?

5. Share something about yourself that we may not know?
When I was 12 years old I got thrown from a horse and fractured my skull. I spent two weeks in a coma and a year not being able to do anything physical......no horseback riding, no soccer and no beating up my brothers - all things I enjoyed very much! I love cheesecake - if it's on the menu I'm having some! much to my hubby's dismay the night he proposed to me <chuckle>. I also have a huge weakness <wink> for Reese's Peanut Butter cups....especially when they are in a DQ Blizzard.

Here is Donna's card using this week's inspiration!
The challenge designers & I have also created a card for this week's inspiration!  We would love to have you join us!
